PURPOSE
To create a safe and secure atmosphere at Ongarue School where learning is central
● Uniforms encourage a sense of pride in the school and provide a standard by which the
school may be judged.
● Uniforms help staff quickly identify unauthorised personnel on site and help staff keep
visual contact with students when offsite.
● Uniforms help reduce peer pressure regarding clothing choices.
GUIDELINES
Uniform is compulsory.
Uniforms can be purchased as a starter pack for $100.00 (one polar fleece, two polo shirts).
Some 2nd hand uniforms are available at a discounted rate.
Uniform is to consist of:
● Official navy blue polo-shirt with school emblem
● Official navy polar fleece with school emblem
● Black bottoms - dependent on season* see below
No jewellery items other than studs and watches are to be worn. If your child has a Taonga,
please send a written note to school.
Sports: a change of clothes is required - there is currently no sports uniform.
Bottoms: All children are expected to wear black bottoms (pants, skirts, shorts). These must be
predominantly solid black. Long pants to be worn in winter only.
Sizing: We keep stock on site at school. Please come in to size your child correctly.
Paying for uniforms: Parents are expected to purchase a uniform and this is to be paid to the
office in cash or by electronic payment on the day of collecting the uniform. We will not put
uniforms on account. Work and Income can provide financial support with uniform purchases,
please contact us if you would like some assistance with this.
